But we will see what your link will bring. --- True, my HoM is also filled to the brim with achievements, and that's indeed a good course to invest your money in. Last edited by Arduin; Feb 02, 2010 at 08:47 PM // 20:47.. |

I'd say just keep the gold - if you are only interested in retaining your value, the simplest way to go would be to not "invest" in anything. Anything other than gold either: a) doesn't change in value, just like gold, or b) has an element of risk.
And always remember - it's play money. P.s. - there is no "advantage" to be gained from filling your HoM, just some bling in GW2. Bling which will basically be as common as Chaos Gloves are now. Last edited by Quaker; Feb 02, 2010 at 08:49 PM // 20:49.. |

In my opinion i'd invest in ecto's as some-one said there could be a nerf .. meaning that the price of ectos would skyrocket .. but that's just me

there will be a nerf . chances are ecto prices will fall drastically before rising . since there would still be a demand for ectos both for FoW and as a second currency .

invest in stuff that doesn't change in price is pointless isn't it?
just invest in limited minipets I'd say, since they won't drop in price I think. |

Why would it fall drastically before rising? With the incoming nerf ecto will only become more 'rare'.

why would prices of ecto at trader hit 9k now ? because there is a large demand for it and the current supply (from UW or whereever) is not keeping up with it so it is becoming more expensive . but when did regina stated that they're looking in SF ? like a month ago ? so from a month ago until now, everyone has been stocking up on ectos . if SF nerf hits and everyone releases their ectos thinking that ecto prices would hit 15k, they're wrong because now that there is an extremely high supply and average demand (people wanted it last time because they were stocking up on it. now what is ectos used for ? a currency and FoW) so prices would fall rapidly . and if no new farm builds appear to farm for ectos, ecto prices would eventually rise again because people would have used up some of the ectos for their own things e.g. FoW . and this means that the supply would have gone done and prices would rise again .
this is just what i think . |

If in reality it won't, people will just hold on to their ecto, hoping for the price to be inflated again. If people don't sell off their ecto en masse, the price won't drop. |

Invest in yourself. Education or work. GW is just a game it's not important. Besides with 229 ectos you won't be able to invest in much to garner a sufficient return. The good investments are out of your price range. Keep your ectos as is.

Dont forget the fact that when GW2 comes out there's not going to be many players in GW1 to trade etc.. Having that in mind the only players that are left will be getting titles for there HoM iF there is any benefit of filling your hall besides showing off your achievements. So anthing that rasies there titles are whats going to be worth keeping. There's gonna far less people farming sweets, alcohol, ectos for armor etc. Less there are the higher it's gonna cost to get and use them after GW2 is released even if you buy them straight from the vendor.
In reality things like a certain mini that is actually hard to get is the only thing that has value in the game. Everything else can be obtainable. Even then those items wont transfer to GW2 so its pointless. As a direct answer to OPs question, you dont have to invest in anything. If you come back when GW2 is out and need somthing from GW1 for HoM then is the time you spend all your gold getting what you need, after that you can then ditch the game. IMO GW is a just a video game. From a companies view to maintan new users, old players are gonna have to suck it up and QQ when they find out there not getting much from wasting there time with the HoM when GW2 is released. Why is anet gonna make new players to GW franchies fell less when they never played GW when all they see all these old school players with cool looking items etc.. there not and I guarntee you old players wont get much. Filled HoM is just gonna be a status symbol to other players saying look at what I did in GW1. Just like when they added the HoM in the first place it was only added after 3 cmpaigns they had to think of something to get players to buy a 4th. Dont stress on investing, go do what you need to do and come back when you have time. |
